Borgarfjördur

Duration: 5 hours (standard) / 9 hours (with Ice Cave)

Discover Iceland’s western heartland with a private tour through the Borgarfjörður region — a landscape of hot springs, waterfalls, lava fields, and Viking legends. Add the option to visit an incredible man-made Ice Cave inside a glacier for the ultimate adventure!

Description:

Join us on a scenic drive through the tranquil landscapes of West Iceland.
Borgarfjörður is often called “the Saga Valley” for its deep roots in Icelandic history and folklore.
You’ll visit bubbling geothermal areas, powerful waterfalls, and charming villages surrounded by raw nature.

Want to take your experience to the next level?
Add a visit to Ice Cave carved inside Iceland’s second-largest glacier, Langjökull — an unforgettable journey deep into the heart of the ice.

Please note: the Ice Cave visit is optional and not included in the base price.

Stops on this tour:

âœ“ Deildartunguhver – Europe’s most powerful hot spring
This steaming powerhouse supplies hot water to neighboring towns and shows the raw heat that lies beneath Iceland’s surface.

âœ“ Reykholt – A village of Viking legends
Once home to Snorri Sturluson, a medieval writer and chieftain, Reykholt is rich in history, with a geothermally heated pool believed to be used by Snorri himself.

âœ“ Hraunfossar & Barnafoss Waterfalls – Lava and legends combined
Hraunfossar is a series of gentle waterfalls streaming out from under a lava field, while nearby Barnafoss (“Children’s Falls”) is wrapped in Icelandic folklore.

âœ“ Optional: Langjökull Ice Cave – A journey inside the glacier
Explore an artificially created ice tunnel that leads deep into Langjökull Glacier. Walk through sparkling ice walls, learn about glacial history, and experience Iceland from within.

Important: The Ice Cave experience must be booked in advance and is not included in the standard tour price.

     âœ“ Little Extra Touch
As always, we’ll adjust the stops depending on weather, time, and your preferences — so your day feels truly yours.
